The leakage current and material performance of various naturally aged non-ceramic distribution class insulators, referenced to glass cap and pin insulators, are presented and discussed. The insulators were energized under a severe marine environment for a period of six months, on a 22 kV insulator test rig situated at Koeberg insulator pollution test station in South Africa.
