Policy changes over the last fifteen years have had profound consequences for team members at youth care and education centres. This article provides a critical overview of the impact of these policy changes on team members and on their service delivery to youths. The focus is on the shift from working in silos to working in teams. The views and experiences of team members who implement changed policy are explored. Recommendations are made for the training of team leaders and team members, and for developing guidelines to equip them to adhere to minimum standards for care and support of the youth.
