C. D.; Stellenbosch University. Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences. Dept. of Industrial Psychology. Africa Centre for HIV/AIDS Management.ENGLISH ABSTRACT: HIV prevention is a much more cost effective measure than ART treatment where countries with limited resources such as Namibia need to invest in. For prevention programs to be effective there is a need to conduct need assessments, target high risk population such as commercial sex workers, injecting drug users as well as young adults (which include adolescents) and address drivers of the epidemic through specific interventions. The researcher conducted a quantitative research among adolescents living in the Namibian children‘s Home. The findings were that the respondents possess general information about HIV, however this information is not universal and there is still a great need to address the misconceptions regarding the disease. In terms of current development in the field of HIV, it was evident that participant had little information, therefore the benefit of an educational program for this participants cannot be emphasised enough The Government should use these findings to identify the correct program for this particular group.
