- ItemStyl en intensiteit van vervorming in die Kaap- en Karoo-opeenvolging vanaf Meiringspoort tot by Beaufort-Wes langs 22 1/2 [grade] oosterlengte(Stellenbosch : Stellenbosch University, 1979) Coetzee, Dirk Stephanus; Verwoerd, W.J.; Söhnge, P.G.; Schoch, A.E.; Stellenbosch University. Dept. of Earth Sciences.ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The main objective of this investigation is to establish evidence for the cause of the post-Cape deformation along 22½°E by assessment of style and intensity of structures. Mega-folds in the Cape and Karoo rocks along this profile are of variable style, but have initially all formed by a flexural-slip mechanism. This was probably aided locally by gravity forces. Asymmetrical limb attenuations of second order flattened flexural-slip folds in the Table Mountain Group in Merings Poort, and a homogeneous structural trend in the cover rocks, however, do not fit a gravity-gliding model for the Cape Fold Belt.
