dc.description.abstractWith social depravation and inequities on the rise, social enterprise has been the response offered to combat this trend. These social enterprises are required to be autonomous, sustainable and meet the social needs that are not being fulfilled by government or the private sector. Research has been focussed on the definition of social enterprise but has not sufficiently examined the concepts of sustainability and business models within the social enterprise context. A conceptual framework is proposed that synthesizes sustainability, business model and social enterprise components.en_ZA
