Abstract
ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The anaesthetic management of distal tracheal resection in a quadriplegic patient is described. Ketamine, halothane, fentanyl and Entonox (50% N2O, 50% O2) were successfully employed. The major problems discussed include airway maintenance, cardiovascular instability and autonomic hyperreflexia, the dangers of depolarizers, and the need for monitoring temperature, blood pressure and fluid balance. The importance of team work is mentioned.
