dc.description.abstractENGLISH ABSTRACT: Individual singing tuition to pupils at the secondary level (high school age) imposes deamnds on teachers which differ from those with regard to the training and development of the adult voice. The singing tuition of adolescents is consequently discussed. Subsequent to hints offerd to teachers on improving the teaching process, practical suggestions on recording and preserving relevant information on the individual pupil and the audition are also made. A discussion of the beginner in respect of formal instruction in singing follows, with emphasis on the importance of a correct posture and a reference to the necessity of adequate breath control. Suggestions are made with regards to the learning of a song and teaching aids that can assist the process. Brief reference is also made to the positive and negative effects of ensemble singing on the solo voice. Repertoir study follows and factors influencing the choice of a song ar stressed. The essence of the thesis is the development of a step system as an aid for effective, systematic teaching and evaluation. It includes steps 4 to 7. A possible method of allocating marks is proposed for each system. Provision is made for the evaluation of technical exercises, aural tests, viva voice, sight reading, repertoire and theory. Suitable technical exercises, sight reading material and repertoire are provided for each step. Each song contains information on the language, key, range, type of voice for which it is suited, mood and technical components which can be applied in its situation.en_ZA
dc.description.abstractAFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Individuele sangonderrig aan leerlinge op dekondere vlak (hoerskoolouderdom) stel ander eise aan sangonderwysers as die opleiding en ontwikkeling van die stem van 'n volwasse persoon. Na aanleiding hiervan word sangonderrig aan die adolessent bespreek. Nadat wenke aan sangonderwysers verskaf word om die onderrigproses te verbeter volg praktiese wenke in verband met die aanteken en bewaar van relevante inligting oor die individuele leerling en die oudisie. 'n Bespreking van die beginner met betrekking tot formele sangonderrig volg met die klem op die belangrikheid van 'n goeie liggaamshouding en 'n verwysing na die noodsaaklikheid van voldoende asembeheer vir die sanger. Wenke word verskaf in verband met die aanleer van die lied en onderrighulpmiddels om die proses te bevorder. Daar word ook kortliks verwys na positiewe en negatiewe effekte van ensembiesang op die solostem. Die studie van repertorium volg met die klem op faktore wat die keuse van 'n lied beinvloed. Die kerngedeelte van die tesis is die ontwikkeling van 'n trapstelsel as 'n hulpmiddel vir goeie, sistematiese onderrig en evaluering. DIt sluit trappe 4 tot 7 in. 'n Moontlike mtode van puntetoekenning word vir elke trap voorgestel. Voorsiening word gemaak vir die evaluering van tegniese oefeninge, gehoor, viva voce, bladlees, repertorium en teorie. Geskikte tegniese oefeninge, bladleesmateriaal en repertorium word vir elke trap voorsien. ELke lied is voorsien van inligting aangaande die taal, toonaard, omvang, die tipe stem waarvoor dit geskik sal wees, die stemming en tegniese aspekte wat deur die onderrig van die lied toegepas word.af_ZA
