dc.description.abstractThe harmful consequences of alcohol exposure in utero are the most common cause of preventable intellectual disability (Gibbard, Wass, and Clarke 2003:72-76). It can lead to various sequelae collectively referred to as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs). These disorders are directly linked to the negative health behaviour of alcohol consumption during pregnancy (Riley et al. 2011:73-80). Ideally it should, therefore, be preventable through positive health behaviour.en_ZA
