The educational function of the supervisor provide the basis for supervision and refers to the use of an educational model, -evaluation and -program for each social worker. The supervisor should be able to utilize both methods of supervision and be capable of doing supervision by contract Selection criteria should be applied and training in supervision should be made compulsary. Policy for social work supervision should be formulated and implemented. This study indicates the process whereby policy should be developed, describe the aspects of concern when policy is implemented and stipulate how policy should be evaluated. If these suggestions are taken into account when policy for social work supervision is drawn up, the policy could be used as a guideline for supervision services.
