    The reciprocal in Xhosa

    ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This work explores the interrelated morpho-phonological, syntactfr ยท and semantic features of the affix -AN- as a reciprocal affix in Xhosa. Chapter II examines the way in which some previous studies on this reciprocal affix -AN- have been handled by earlier grammarians. Chapter III aims at exploring the syntactic and semantic features of the derivative verb stems with -AN-. Chapter IV is a summary of the work done both in syntax and semantics of reciprocal verbs.
