Faculty of Engineering. Dept. of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This thesis provides an overview of the design of a web-based Power Line Communication (PLC) interface. The communication system is a combination of various units such as a webpage, a webserver, a power line communication module and a Relay and Power Measuring Unit (RPMU). The aim of design is to encourage consumers to participate in a Demand Side Management (DSM) since their home appliances can be controlled remotely. Technological advancement are encouraging us to have smarter homes, offices and even cars that reduce demand for energy derived from coal, gas or other energy substances causing global warming. Necessary hardware was designed and the embedded software was implemented. A communication protocol was created for data communication between the HomePlug GreenPHY𝑇𝑀 nodes. The testing of the project was adequately documented in this thesis. This project demonstrates a practical application of Internet of Things (IoT) due to the fact that Internet is now ubiquitous and affordable.
