Dept. of Industrial Psychology.ENGLISH SUMMARY: The study embarks on the evaluation of the status quo with regard to the knowledge base, usage patterns and usage obstacle of selection procedures as applied by human resources personnel in South Africa. The primary goal of the study is to obtain a detailed description of the current state of affairs on the above, as it pertains to members of the Society of Industrial Psychology, the South African Board of Personnel Practice and the Occupational Board of Psychology, with regards to their utilisation of psychometric techniques and procedures prescribed by the Guidelines for the Development and Validation of selection Procedures. Secondly the study aims to generate insight into the anticipated inability to develop and validate selection procedures in accordance with the guidelines.
