- ItemDie predikantsamp. Deel 1 : onduidelikheid oor die inhoud van die predikantsamp(2004) Burger, C. W.; Wepener, C. J.The office of the minister. Part 1: Obscurity concerning the essence of the office of the minister. For many ministers and church members there are certain obscurities regarding the essence of the task of a minister. Nationally and internationally there are numerous changes at different levels that are responsible for this state of affairs. Therefore these changes are firstly briefly described in this article. Thereafter the deeper reasons for the vagueness concerning the office of the minister is discussed, in order to highlight some of the levels that need attention in this regard. Lastly four lines are proposed along which some clarity can be obtained. As such this article is an introduction to a series of five articles on the office of the minister and the four lines are then looked at individually in the rest of this series. It is hoped that it will help to clarify the obscurity surrounding this office with these five articles and to suggest a (new) way of looking at it within our current context.
- ItemDie predikantsamp. Deel 2 : op soek na 'n Bybelse visie van die amp : ironiee en verassings(2004) Burger, C. W.; Wepener, C. J.The office of the minister. Part 2: In search of a Biblical vision for the office: Ironies and surprises. In this second article in our series on the office of the minister, the Bible will be looked at as a source for clarity on the essence of this office. People are often disappointed when they cannot find clear answers on questions concerning for example the office of the minister in the Bible, or that the answers that they find are not the answers they were actually looking for. The Bible however is often clear on other aspects regarding the office of the minister. Without giving the pretence of a complete Biblical inquiry on the office of the minister, six aspects on which the Bible is clear are presented and discussed after a very preliminary survey of the Old- and New Testament in this regard. Thereafter the six aspects is presented. These aspects will later, along with the findings from articles 1, 3 and 4 in this series, be used in order to formulate a systematic model for the understanding of the office of the minister in the fifth article.
- ItemDie Predikantsamp. Deel 4 : predikantwees in die 21ste eeu - nuwe uitdagings en nuwe tendense(2004) Burger, C. W.The office of the minister. Part 4: On being a minister in the Reformed tradition in the 21st century – new challenges and new tendencies. The argument from the previous three articles is taken a bit further in this fourth article. In this article the focus is specifically on newer developments regarding the office of the minister in the Reformed tradition. Firstly traditional views is highlighted, especially looking at developments in the 20th century. Thereafter five new accents are looked at that came to the fore in the last twenty years. These accents are not very different to the accents of Calvin concerning this office, but it helps us to understand these accents within a new context. What is however still needed is the integration of these insights within a coherent whole – and this will be the aim of the last article of this series.
- ItemDie predikantsamp. Deel 5 : kan die drie-ampteleer ons help om 'n Bybelse fokus aan die predikantsamp te gee(2004) Burger, C. W.The office of the minister. Part 5: Can the munus triplex help us to give a Biblical focus to the office of the minister? In this last article in the series of five on the office of the miniter, the line of the first four articles is taken up and synthesised into one systematic model for looking at this office. Without giving the pretence of having a final answer to all the problems that the office of the minister is currently facing, the munus triplex is scrutinised in order to see whether it can be used to formulate a new Biblical understanding of this office and its task. Firstly previous attempts at such a systemisation will be looked at and thereafter an own attempt at such a model will be presented.
