Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Dept. of Geography and Environmental Sciences. These days "conservation" is the buzzword. Ecological destruction is taking place on a global scale. The preservation of the environment postulates the observance of certain imperatives. The inculcation of conservation-consciousness into the minds of everyone, young and old, is one these. Another is the preservation of all resources, human and natural. Ideally, in the implementation of any physical development, these resources should complement, and not be opposed to one another. A corollary is that before embarking on any project, a proper analysis and assessment of any consequential damages to the environment, should be conducted. In other words, an holistic approach should be minimum requirement.
