Abstract
In line with the UN policy of active ageing and projected population ageing trends, the Older Persons Act (2006) sees a marked shift away from residential care for the aged to that of independent community living. Using systems theory as the theoretical framework this article sets out to compare the quality-of-life indicators across various domains that enable the independent living of Jewish seniors. The aim of this study is thus to provide guidelines for social work intervention with Jewish seniors by gaining a better understanding of the determinants that promote the quality of their lives.
