Abstract
ENGLISH ABSTRACT: A short description of the physiography, geology, climate, vegetation, animal life and history of the Cedarberg State Forest is given. The present status of Widdringtonia cedarbergensis Marsh (The Clanwilliam cedar) was investigated inter alia by studying 40 one ha cedar tree sample plots. Some of these plots burnt after the initial survey and on these the effect of the fire on cedar populations were determined. A Survey to determine the character and extent of outdoor recreation in the Cedarberg was made by means of a mail questionnaire.
