Abstract
An educational program in which the PC has played in important role in stimulating interest and research in electromagnetic field theory and antenna engineering among university students is described. By using the PC to control instruments, capture data, compute, and graphically present results, it was found students could get involved rapidly in experimental and theoretical aspects of electromagnetics at levels that were practically impossible less than a decade ago. It is believed that the use of computer graphics has greatly enhanced the understanding of radiation and scattering mechanisms by allowing the measured near fields and computed far fields to be visualized.
