Abstract
The attempts by geographers to explain the spatial patterns of mental illness within an ecological framework are based on the assumption that abnormal or disintegrated human behaviour is stimulated in part by certain high risk environmental conditions in a city. By analysing 760 patients in Cape Town an attempt is made to portray these spatial patterns of mental illness and to identify to what extent certain environmental conditions are associated with these patterns.-English summary
