Abstract
ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Documentation practice, in the context of the contemporary recording process is guided either by a set of standardised requirements - which were established in an era where the technical interactions during the process were considerably different than they are today - or by the involved engineer’s tacit knowledge of different recording processes and their concurrent documentation requirements. The central argument of this thesis is that, considering contemporary recording is characterised by a multitude of different workflow possibilities and therefore poses new and complex challenges, flexible documentation design proves to be a better strategy than either traditional or individualistic documentation practice - especially if the goal is to makes sure that only the necessary documentation is gathered, in the most effecient manner. This kind of documentation design benefits from a fleshed out understanding of different workflow possibilities and the functions that documentation has within some of these different contexts.
