Abstract
The paper investigates the viability of using finite element time step analysis directly in the simulation of the current waveform of the switched reluctance machine under dynamic single pulse conditions. A method for simulation is described, which solves the first order differential voltage equation for the phase winding at the machine. It is found that the solution time is reasonably fast and the results accurate. Measured and calculated single pulse current waveform results of a 50 kW switched reluctance machine drive are presented.
