Abstract
The use of an explicit, residual-based, a posteriori error indicator for directing a single-level p-refinement of the finite element method analysis of a waveguide filter is investigated. Hierarchical, curl-conforming elements of various orders are employed. It is shown that substantial improvements upon uniform element polynomial order discretizations can be obtained in terms of accuracy versus number of degrees of freedom. Copyright © 2002 IEEE.
