dc.description.abstractTo develop nutritional solutions and effective water and nutrient management strategies for intensively grown nectarine (Prunus persica var. nectarina) orchards, accurate information on the nutritional requirement and nutrient consumption is required. Such information was gathered by means of full tree excavations and subsequent mineral analysis of fifth leaf 'Donnarine' nectarine trees during dormancy, pit hardening and at harvest. The annual mineral nutrition requirements were determined by calculating losses though harvest, prunings and partial losses through leaf drop. These requirements are expressed as kg element per ton of fruit crop per hectare for the macronutrients, nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, calcium, magnesium and g element per ton of fruit crop per hectare for the micronutrients, sodium, manganese, iron, copper, zinc and boron.
