Numerical hints are used to propose a Fokker-Plank equation (FPE) for the time and size distributions of the waves in the Abelian sandpile model (ASM). This approach is shown the yield an analytical expression for the asymptotic behavior of the avalanche distribution in D = 2 which goes beyond the finite size scaling hypothesis and is in agreement with recent results.
