Abstract
ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The aim of this thesis is to investigate the influence of a forced cross-flow component at inlet as an isolated system effect on the performance of rotor-only axial fans. The off-design condition is imposed by inserting inlet pipe sections - mounted at angles to produce ratios of 0, 0.25, 0.5 and 1 between the cross-flow and perpendicular on-flow velocity components - between the plenum chamber of a standardised test facility and fans of 1542 mm diameter. Three fans are investigated over a wide envelope of flow rates and blade angles.
