dc.description.abstract | ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Policework is considered to be a career that has a broad psychological impact on the police officer. The
focus of most studies regarding the subject has fallen on the traumatization experienced by the police officer
due to the nature of the job. The influence of intra-psychic factors on the life-and work functioning of the
individual is currently starting to generate more interest. This assignment proposes a research design that
aims to determine whether a person's sence of coherence and the coping strategies he/she employs (intrapsychic
factors), and his/her work satisfaction are related. A further aim is to formulate a reliable structural
model that describes and predict the nature of the interaction between the three constructs. The sence of
coherence, use of coping strategies and work satisfaction experienced by a representative group of
employees of the South African Police Service in the Western Cape will be measured during a single
crossectional survey. The data will be gathered with Antonovsky's Orientation to Life Questionnaire, the
COPE-questionnaire, the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire and a biographical questionnaire. It is
proposed that structural equation modelling be used for the statistical analysis of the data. With this
technique a structural model can be formulated that could offer explanations for individual differences
regarding stress management and work functioning and thus contribute to the optimalization of a person's
life and work functioning. | en_ZA |
werksfunksionering begin egter tans toenemend aandag geniet. Hierdie werkstuk stel 'n navorsingsontwerp
Antonovsky se "Orientation to Life Questionnaire", die "COPE"-vraelys, die Minnesotatevredenheidsvraelys
werksfunksionering. | af_ZA |
