Abstract
Pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma is a very rare brain tumour accounting for only 1% of all brain neoplasms. It is however important to be familiar with the radiological findings of this tumour because it has a characteristic imaging appearance and is highly amenable to surgical resection with a good prognosis. We report two cases of pleomorphic xanthoastrocytomas, describe the neuroimaging findings, correlate the imaging findings with the histopathological findings and review the current literature. © 2008 Elsevier Ireland Ltd.
