    Aspekte van die leksikografiese hantering van variante met spesifieke verwysing na Namibiese Afrikaans

    ENGLISH ABSTRACT: In the past Afrikaans played an important role in Namibia, and this will not necessarily change in future. Throughout the years, Afrikaans in Namibia has developed its own character in which the mother tongue speakers take pride. The inclusion of Namibian Afrikaans in Afrikaans dictionaries will be evidence of the prominence of the language in a country where it is no longer one of the official languages. The main purpose of this thesis is to look at the different ways in which a variety like Namibian Afrikaans is dealt with. This brought other matters to light which need to be considered, for example the marking of lexical items, Afrikaans being a language that includes many different types of substandard variants.
