Abstract
As a starting point for the investigation reported, the different definitions of public relations - the context in which corporate identity programmes are managed - were investigated as well as the cyclical nature of the public relations process, the position of public relations in local government and the relationship between public relations, corporate image and corporate identity.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: As vertrekpunt vir hierdie ondersoek is die verskillende definisies van openbare betrekkinge - die konteks waarin korporatiewe identiteitsprogramme bestuur word - ondersoek sowel as die sikliese aard van die skakelproses, die plek van openbare betrekkinge in plaaslike bestuur en die verhouding tussen openbare betrekkinge, korporatiewe beeld en korporatiewe identiteit.
