- ItemDie betroubaarheid en faktorstruktuur van die aangepaste meervoudige keuse-formaat van die miner sentence completion scale (MSCS)(AOSIS OpenJournal, 1991-06) Engelbrecht, A. S.; De Jager, L. C.The reliability and factor structure of the adapted multiple choice version of the Miner Sentence Completion Scale (MSCS). In this study the multiple choice MSCS was adapted as a result of several criticisms thereof. The internal consistency and factor structure of the adapted MSCS were determined to ascertain the reliability and construct validity of the questionnaire. Results show that the internal consistency is unsatisfactory and that the factor structure is so complex that interpretation becomes virtually impossible. In light of the results of this study and other research findings of the psychometric properties of the MSCS, it is recommended that a new measuring instrument for managerial motivation be developed that will enable a valid testing of the managerial rolemotivation theory.
- ItemThe identification and perceived importance of dimensions of managerial success for different levels of management(AOSIS OpenJournals, 1995-06) Loubser, M. P.; De Jager, L. C.Dimensions or factors related to managerial success were identified from the literature and a list of 78 generic dimensions compiled. These dimensions were rated in terms of their relative importance for every level of management by 241 managers on junior, middle and senior levels. A principal components factor analysis with varimax rotation was performed on the data and nine factors or clusters of dimensions were extracted. The resulting factor scores were then subjected to a multiple analysis of variance. Results indicate that the importance of these factors differ significantly across the three levels of management. The implications of the findings are discussed in both theoretical and practical terms.
- ItemDie meting van sielkundige diepte-orientasie : 'n verdere verfyning en omlyning(AOSIS OpenJournal, 1987-04) De Jager, L. C.The measurement of psychological depth orientation: a further refinement. As a result of the psychometric weaknesses of the RD-Depth Questionnaire (de Jager, 1979) for measuring psychological depth orientation an effort was made to develop a new instrument. In the present study a new instrument with outstanding psychometric properties (the DJ-Behaviour Questionnaire) was successfully developed and evaluated. As a further step in construct validation the instrument was also successfully correlated with other variables. Reccomendations for future research are made.
- Item'n Multidimensionele skaleringstudie van personeelkonsultantgroepe in Suid Afrika(AOSIS OpenJournal, 1988-05) Theron, C. C.; De Jager, L. C.A multidimentional scaling study of personnel consultancy groups in South Africa. Ten 12x12 symetric dissimilarity matrices of inter personnel consultant comparisons were submitted to weigthed multidimensional scaling. Vector and ideal point models were used to relate preference and con- sultant attributes to the group stimulus space. Results indicate that the hypothetical ideal consultant differs significantly from existing consultancies and that there exists a partial incongruence between the attributes used spontaneously when comparing a number of consultancies and the critical consultant attributes identified in the literature. Recommendations for further research are made.
- ItemDie ontwikkeling van 'n instrument vir die meting van die konstruk sielkundite diepte-orientasie(AOSIS OpenJournal, 1981-11) De Jager, L. C.The development of an instrument (the RD-Depth Questionnaire, Form B) for measuring the construct psychological depth orientation is discussed. Results show that the questionnaire has satisfactory internal consistency and that the items of the questionnaire in general measure the same characteristic. Further research is needed to refine and improve the questionnaire until it meets all the psychometric requirements of a good measuring instrument.
- ItemPerseptuele verskille tussen bestuurders en ondergeskiktes ten opsigte van prestasiebeoordeling(AOSIS OpenJournal, 1991-06) Le Roux, C. W.; De Jager, L. C.Perceptual differences between managers and subordinates regarding performance appraisal. In order to determine the degree of similarity or disparity in perceptions of subordinates and managers regarding the administrative and developmental dimensions of performance appraisal a subsection (Satisfaction with the Performance and Developmental Appraisal) of the Leadership Analysis Questionnaire (LAQ)(Mount, 1983) was administered to 92 managers, 142 successful subordinates and 67 unsuccessful subordinates. The research reveals that no significant differences exist between the perceptions of successful and unsuccessful subordinates, and between subordinates and managers regarding the administrative and developmental dimensions of performance appraisal.
- ItemWerksbetrokkenheid : 'n empiriese ondersoek(AOSIS OpenJournal, 1982-11) Engelbrecht, A. S.; De Jager, L. C.The relationship between job involvement, job satisfaction and job performance has been investigated. Differences in job involvement between the sexes and between full day and half day female employees were also researched. Two questionnaires and a graphic rating scale were applied to a sample of 164 clerical employees. Job involvement correlated significantly and positively with job performance and also with the different dimensions of job satisfaction. No significant differences regarding job involvement were found between the sexes and between full day and half day female employees. Conclusions are drawn from the results obtained and recommendations are made for future research.
