Abstract:
The present work investigates the differences between three apparent nearsynonyms הִנֵּה ,הֵן and רְאֵה . Their semantic potential is established on the
basis of exhaustive studies of the occurrences of each form in the Hebrew
Bible. We conclude that the most prototypical sense of רְאֵה overlaps with
one of the less typical (i.e. secondary developments) of הִנֵּה but that רְאֵה and
הֵן cannot be used interchangeably.
