H SUMMARY : The poor performance of the Zambian economy as represented by low gross domestic product growth rates, high rates of unemployment, underemployment and high levels of poverty affecting even university graduates, has led to the introduction of entrepreneurship programmes in the Zambian public universities. It is expected that exposure to entrepreneurial education would encourage graduates to choose self-employment as a career option instead of striving for formal jobs, which are increasingly getting fewer. Firms founded by university graduate entrepreneurs are expected to form the backbone of the Zambian industrialisation process, which should propel sustainable economic growth. The aim of the study was to assess the entrepreneurial intentions among the students at the Copperbelt University in Zambia. The study used primary data collected through a self-administered questionnaire. A sample size of 320 students was used. The results obtained showed that students have high entrepreneurial intentions regardless of whether they have had exposure to entrepreneurial education or not. The findings also suggest that current entrepreneurial educational programmes are not effectively driving the graduates towards increasing their entrepreneurial intentions. There is a need to extend the study to other institutions and a review of the entrepreneurship study programmes in Zambian universities need to be undertaken.en_ZA
